BD & EXEL Syringes in Stock at McGuff.com
The plastic syringe market has been negatively impacted by the FDA warnings about syringes manufactured in three specific factories in China. This widespread issue is causing supply chain shortages and delays due to increased demand for safe devices.
The good news is that McGuff has ample inventory of both BD and EXEL plastic syringes which are not included in the FDA’s safety alerts.

In its latest April 25th update, the FDA provided additional details and recommendations on how to be discerning when buying plastic syringes from suppliers. They recommend that medical professionals carefully inspect their existing plastic syringes for possible device failures, including:
- Foreign matter
- Needles breaking off
- Device cracks and leakage
- Measurements/dosages inaccuracies
- Flow speed inconsistencies
We purchase our plastic syringes directly from BD and EXCEL, which are two plastic syringe manufacturers that produce within FDA regulations. Both companies have issued official statements about their manufacturing practices and commitment to quality. To summarize, BD syringes are made in the United States and EXEL are made in China adhering to FDA regulations and are deemed safe to use.
Eric Borin, president of BD Medication Delivery Solutions, said, "BD has the capacity to support additional syringe demand and is further increasing U.S. production to help ensure continuity of patient care. Since the initial FDA safety communication in November, BD has increased domestic manufacturing of syringes in our Nebraska and Connecticut facilities to respond to customer needs.”
"Ensuring the safety and quality of our products is the top priority at BD. The latest FDA safety communication does not include any BD syringes. Over our more than 125-year history, we have served the health care system's need for essential high-quality medical products, including manufacturing 2 billion additional syringes and needles to support the global pandemic response to COVID-19. BD remains committed to supporting the health care system and patients, and our clinical staff are prepared to support customers with any questions they may have regarding our products."
Scott Lyons, our supplier at Exelint International, manufacturer of EXEL syringes, told us, “No EXEL products are made at any of the FDA warning sites.”
Their official statement from March 26, 2024 affirms that they are not involved in the FDA warnings:
We want to assure you that our company is not affected by these warning letters. The FDA warning letters issued to these medical devices are specific to their operations and products, and there is no effect or relation to our business or products. Refer to the three entities who are related to the described violations of unauthorized sale and distribution of plastic syringes:
- Jiangsu Shenli Medical Production Co. Ltd. (China-based manufacturer of plastic syringes)
- Medline Industries, LP (firm marketing and distributing plastic syringes made in China within the U.S.)
- Sol-Millennium Medical, Inc. (firm marketing and distributing plastic syringes made in China within the U.S.)
At Exelint International, we prioritize the safety, quality, and compliance of our products with regulatory standards. We adhere strictly to all FDA regulations, MDSAP, and MDD guidelines to ensure that our products meet the highest standards of safety and efficacy.
