On National Vitamin C Day (and everyday), it's important to realize how much we need vitamin C. We quite literally can't live without it!

Vitamin C is essential for humans, but unlike most animals, we can’t make it ourselves. We must get it from food – or when deficient, from therapeutic high-dose vitamin C treatments like ASCOR®.

A recent study from the University of Iowa suggests that high-dose intravenous vitamin C, when combined with chemotherapy, may improve survival rates for patients with late-stage metastatic pancreatic cancer. In this phase 2 trial, patients receiving 75 grams of vitamin C three times a week alongside chemotherapy experienced an increase in overall survival from eight to sixteen months, and progression-free survival from four to six months.

In response to the recent nationwide shortage of IV solutions, triggered by unexpected damages at key manufacturing sites due to Hurricane Helene, we wanted to assure you of our unwavering commitment to your needs during this challenging period.

On June 18th, the California Board of Pharmacy (CA BOP) held a regulation hearing on compounded drug preparations. McGuff’s management team, along with an estimated attendance of over 100 people, including medical professionals from diverse specialties, attended this three-hour subcommittee meeting. Their goal was to advocate for continued access to sterile compounded drugs from 503A compounding pharmacies.

We’ve been transitioning our 503A compounding pharmacy to a 503B outsourcing facility and are developing many compounded drugs for when we launch, as well as investigating others to develop in the future.

The plastic syringe market has been negatively impacted by the FDA warnings about syringes manufactured in three specific factories in China. This widespread issue is causing supply chain shortages and delays due to increased demand for safe devices.

The good news is that McGuff has ample inventory of both BD and EXEL plastic syringes which are not included in the FDA’s safety alerts.

McGuff has three newly licensed company Designated Representatives, which brings our total to eight. 

California State Board of Pharmacy licensed Designated Representatives play a crucial role in the distribution of dangerous drugs or devices. Designated Representatives must have two years of hands-on experience and pass a rigorous state law examination to ensure the safe and compliant distribution of drugs and devices from McGuff Medical Products throughout California and the United States.
